In der Longmen Grotte gibt es 2345 Nischen und \u00fcber 100.000 Buddhastatuen. Die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Buddha Statue misst 17,14 Meter, die Kleinste ist nur 2 Zentimeter hoch.<br \/>\nIm Jahr 493 n. Chr. wurde mit dem Bau der Grotten begonnen und es dauerte \u00fcber 400 Jahre bis zur Fertigstellung.<br \/>\nViele Buddha-Figuren wurden durch Vandalismus, Witterungseinfl\u00fcssen oder w\u00e4hrend der <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kulturrevolution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kulturrevolution<\/a> zerst\u00f6rt.<br \/>\nDie Statue des Buddha Vairocana hat zwei unterschiedliche Gesichtsh\u00e4lften. Die eine l\u00e4chelt, w\u00e4hrend die andere den Mundwinkel etwas nach unten zieht. Damit sollte der zwiesp\u00e4ltige Charakter der <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wu_Zetian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaiserin Wu Zetian<\/a> symbolisiert werden.
